Winter & High AQI Cough Remedy for Kids

When the AQI and the temperature drops, our respiratory system needs extra support. This season, cold and the high AQI in the air has hit little ones and the adults hard, polluted air irritates the respiratory system, while cold weather lowers immunity and dries out airways, making infections more likely. this has led to those nasty winter coughs, chest congestion and cold amongst both kids and adults.

Children today wish to go out and play, once back home, they tend to sneeze, cough and finally their nose and chest get congested. we as parents panic a lot and rush to the doctors. Instead of reaching for the doctors and drugstore, as initial treatment, or as first-aid, try out this trusted remedy from our grandma’s kitchen! Its Tried and tested and highly recommended. there are 2 variations, try any of them that your child likes, and make their lives less congested and much more happy!

RECIPE-1

INGREDIENTS:

  • Water – 500ml
  • Black Pepper Corns – 6-7
  • Cloves – 4-5
  • Cinnamon Stick – Half an inch
  • Ginger – 1 inch shredded
  • Honey – 1.5 to 2 tsp

RECIPE:

  • Take half a litre of filter water, add 1 inch piece of shredded ginger along with 6-7 whole black pepper corn, 4-5 cloves, half an inch of cinnamon and boil this for 10-15 minutes with the lid on.
  • This will make a yellowish-brown colour Concoction.
  • Rest it for 5 minutes.
  • Sieve in a glass jar or a cup, add 1 tsp honey in a cup (add a bit more for little kids, so that it doesn’t taste tangy) and sip through when lukewarm like a Soup
    Take this 2-3 times a day.

RECIPE-2

INGREDIENTS:

  • Black Pepper Corns – 4-5
  • Ginger – 1 inch shredded
  • Honey – 4 tsp

RECIPE:

  • In a bowl, sieve out the juice of shredded ginger.
  • Freshly crush the whole black pepper corns and add to the ginger juice.
  • Add honey to it and store in an airtight container.
  • Give 1-2 tsp of this mixture to your kids or family members twice to thrice a day along with lukewarm water.
